BNUZ Convocation

Saint Mary’s University staff and faculty travelled to China for the graduation of the first cohort of a unique program based on an international partnership between SMU and Beijing Normal University-Zhuhai (BNUZ). While in China, Director of Alumni Engagement, Mary Ann Daye BComm’85, also had the chance to catch up with alumni at different events including an alumni dinner in Hong Kong!
Gorsebrook Patio Opening

We invited alumni to help break in the new Gorsebrook patio with a couple of patio parties throughout the summer. While the weather didn’t fully cooperate, our Huskies Home Opener pre-game party was a huge success! We look forward to having more events in this great new space in the future.
42nd Annual Alumni Golf Tournament

This August, we held the 42nd Annual Alumni Golf Tournament at Glen Arbour Golf Course. This was our first year at Glen Arbour, and we were joined by 31 teams who enjoyed the gorgeous greens and perfect weather. Congratulations to Siemens – this year’s winning team! We were also proud to present over 20 students with $1,000 bursaries, thanks to our sponsors.
SMU Alumni Maritime Tour

In April and May, we hit the road to visit alumni in Fredericton, Saint John, Sydney, Moncton, and Charlottetown. It was great to catch up with our alumni and hear about the amazing things they’re up to! Halifax Pride Parade

More than 70 SMU students, alumni, faculty, and staff donned their best rainbow tie-dye for the Halifax Pride Parade! Despite the rainy day, the parade was a huge success, and we were excited to have so many Santamarians walking with the SMU float or cheering on throughout the parade route. Farewell to Dean Pat Bradshaw

After a successful six-year tenure, Dr. Patricia Bradshaw ended her term as Dean of the Sobey School of Business in May. More than 200 alumni, colleagues, students, and friends gathered to thank Dr. Bradshaw for her incredible impact on students, alumni, and the business community. Spring Convocation

Student Appreciation Day

The Alumni Office helped to put a smile on the faces of students before Reading Week by handing out free coffee as part of the various Student Appreciation Day activities. We even had a bit of help from campus cat and celebrity, Carlton!
Boston Tree Lighting

A reception was held for our Boston alumni ahead of the 76th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting festivities. A number of alumni were in attendance to watch the lighting of the tree, a yearly gift from Nova Scotia, at the Boston Common.
Go Huskies Go!

The Alumni Office and student volunteers cheered on our Huskies and gave out SMU swag and cheer gear at various events this winter, including the Bell Let’s Talk Men’s Hockey game and the Bob Boucher Hockey Assistance Fund event.
