In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Saint Mary’s transitioned to a virtual environment in March. During this unprecedented time, the university has developed new approaches to teaching and learning, operations, services, as well as events. While students and faculty were adjusting to online classes, staff worked remotely to continue to provide services and support. On May 5th, the university held a milestone event, its first ever Virtual Town Hall. More than 375 faculty and staff members attended the event, highlighted by a live question and answer session as well as a message from President Summerby-Murray. As Saint Mary’s continues deliberations on how it will deliver its fall semester, the focus continues to be on positioning students, faculty, and staff for success in the virtual environment. “The entire university community has pulled together at this time, and I thank and celebrate everyone for their patience, perseverance, and commitment,” said President Summerby-Murray. “The spirit that carried us through the first part of 2020 is the spirit that we need to hold onto as we face new challenges ahead.”
