Robert Downey, BComm’81

Graduation Year: 1981

Robert Downey BComm’81 has recently retired from the federal public service after 33 years in the field of Human Resources. During his career, Robert worked in seven federal organizations in three provinces and held positions such as: Senior Labour Relations Advisor at National Defence Headquarters; Manager of HR Operations, NCR Region at Fisheries and Oceans Canada; Chief of Labour Relations at the Privy Council Office; and most recently Senior Policy Analyst at Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada. Robert currently resides in Ottawa and plans on remaining in Ontario during his retirement. His future plans include travel, continuing his family genealogical research, and resuming his involvement with the sport of boxing in an administrative capacity.

Richard Delong

Graduation Year: 1981

Richard Delong B.Comm’81 was a die-hard Huskies fan and devoted SMU alumni. He died on February 17. His daughter, Jocelyn Delong BComm’14, reports that when she went through her father’s belongings after he passed, she found dozens and dozens of SMU t-shirts, sweat pants, hoodies, and hats, plus over 5 years of Huskies season tickets. “Saint Mary’s meant so much to my Dad,” says Jocelyn. “He was a proud BComm grad, Huskies fan, athletic program supporter, and overall good human being. Thank you for allowing him and I to build so many memories over the years at Saint Mary's.”

Kathleen Corey Rahme

Graduation Year: 1981

Kathleen Corey Rahme BA’81 travelled to Beirut, Lebanon in December 2015 from her home in Methuen, MA. She visited Dr. Joseph Jabbra, the former Academic Vice President at Saint Mary's. He is currently the President of  Lebanese American University in Beirut, but at one time was Kathleen’s professor and academic advisor. They had a great reunion, catching up after 34 years.
